Asia’s craft brewers make tremendous positive contributions to their communities. Part of our mission at Beer Asia is to showcase how craft breweries in Asia exercise corporate social responsibility.
Beyond mitigating the social harm of alcohol, Asian craft breweries are increasingly getting involved in good social causes as diverse as education, the environment and gender equality.
This month, we’re excited to highlight an upcoming charity craft beer event in Vietnam.
Here’s Niall Mackay from the ILA Community Network to take it away…
This month on August 12th is the 3rd Annual ILA Community Network Charity Beer Festival.
After it’s popularity continued to grow it had to move from its original host, The White House in Thao Dien, to bigger premises. Thankfully East West stepped in and partnered with ILA Community Network to host the event last year and once again this year.
Last year over 400 people went through the doors of East West to try brews from five local brewers, raising over 130m in the process for the annual Sponsorships campaign. This campaign provides financial aid to support disadvantaged children access state education and sent over 300 students to school last year who otherwise couldn’t afford to go. This year ILA Community Network is aiming to send even more students to school.
This year you can try beer and cider from East West Brewing Co., Pasteur Street Brewing Company, Tê Tê Craft Beer, Beervana Vietnam, Saigon Cider and Lac Brewing Co. Entry is only 100k, including a free taster, and as ILA covers all administration costs, 100% of your donation will go towards the Sponsorships program. Each brewer has also generously donated 5m VND to be part of this event.
Over 90m VND worth of prizes are up for grabs this year, including stays with Place In Saigon, the Sailing Club Resort Mui Ne, The Myst Dong Khoi, party package from Fuzzy Logic Brewing Co. & TNT BBQ, Ipa-Nima, Le Méridien Saigon, Union Jack’s Fish & Chips, Malt South, The Iron Bank – Cocktail Vault, Vespa Adventures, El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse Vietnam, Anatara Mui Ne Resort & Spa, Lavilla French Restaurant, Lost Boys Hideout, Anantara Hoi An, The Grand Ho Tram Strip, Mama Sens and Emeralda Ninh Binh Resort & Spa.
