On the second edition of Beer Asia Live, we spoke with Lion City Meadery’s Sanjay Jegatheesan on all things mead.

On the second edition of Beer Asia Live, our session of beer-related webinars, we spoke with Lion City Meadery’s Sanjay Jegatheesan on all things Mead.

Sanjay shared his journey to build Singapore’s first meadery through to the tactics he uses to win over local drinkers and tips on pairing mead with food.

Inspired by a trip to London and a keen interest in both gaming and mythology, Sanjay’s mead has taken Singapore’s craft beverage scene by storm since launching in 2018.

During our live interview, Sanjay shared how he became obsessed with mead, the amazing journey from beehive to the bar of LCM’s mead, how he built a real-life tavern to win over Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts, and how he’s convinced Singaporean drinkers to give mead a shot.

What Is Mead?

Sanjay walked us through the basics of mead: an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey and water. Sometimes hops, spices, fruit and other ingredients are added too.
