Singapore City Craft Beer Guide

Beer Asia’s guide to Singapore’s craft beer scene, including the best craft breweries and bars in town.

This guide to Singapore’s craft beer scene was last updated in October 2024.

We also have a Singapore beer delivery guide if you’re staying home!

A decade ago, it was hard to find craft beer anywhere in Singapore. While there were small pockets of craft beer enthusiasm, and even tasting rooms of pioneer local brewers, the city wasn’t yet ready for a craft beer revolution.

Today, revolutionary fervour is peaking. Singapore’s food and beverage reputation has been radically transformed. Craft beer enthusiasts and visitors alike are spoilt for choice.

To start, there has been an explosion of local breweries: from the established Brewerkz gastropub chain through to recent pioneers like That Singapore Beer Project and Hospoda Microbrewery.

Beyond local craft, a wide range of imported craft beers is now available. From high-end bottle shops to convenience stores, you can now find a wide range of imported bottles and cans.

While this guide focuses on venues, you will be able to find local Singaporean beers on draft and in bottles and cans at the locations we have highlighted.

Find your favourite pour in a food court near you, or enjoy a pint at the World’s Highest Urban Microbrewery with an unparalleled dining experience complete with one of the best views of Singapore’s Marina Bay and city skyline.

Whatever craft beer desires you might have, there is a craft beer bar in Singapore that is perfect for your vibe!

Craft Beer Bars & Breweries in Singapore

The World is Flat

One of the lucky international travellers flying to and from Changi, or simply looking for a get-away from the usual bars in Singapore?

Located on the top floor of Jewel (arguably the most grandiose airport building in the world), The World is Flat aims to provide the best airport bar experience in the world.

Previously the bar was located in Terminal 1 and had a larger selection of draft taps.

Since the pandemic began, their new location at Jewel in Changi has pivoted from more of a beverage-focused concept to a bar that blends their beers and cocktails with a wider culinary offering anchored on sandwiches.

However, the craft beer taps, view and unique location keeps it a must-visit for thirsty travellers.

With an extensive food menu and both indoor/outdoor seating (dog-friendly to boot!), Malthouse is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the East Coast area.

With 32 taps (one of the largest ranges of draft beer in Singapore) and some truly stand out imported beers (from Hong Kong’s Moonzen to New Zealand’s Garage Project), their level of service excellence stands out in particular.

All of the craft beer bar servers are certified by the Cicerone Certification Program, which gives them a cutting edge over your regular bar staff in giving recommendations and background to the beers on tap.

Indeed, American Taproom’s team hold 3 of 5 Certified Cicerones (Level 2) qualifications in Singapore – proof that they take craft beer seriously, and to ensure you’re experiencing beer at its best!

Ren Min

While craft beer in fancy Western-style venues is no surprise, have you tried drinking delicious craft beer in a traditional Singaporean kopitiam (hawker centre)?

Go no further. Ren Min – formerly known as 3rd Culture Brewing Co. – serves great-tasting beers at affordable prices amidst amazing local food in two of Singapore’s best hawker centres.

Their first location is Maxwell Market in Tanjong Pagar, a kopitiam made famous internationally by the late Anthony Bourdain’s penchant for Tian Tian Chicken Rice.

Their second location is at Old Airport Road Food Centre near Dakota MRT Station, which has an equally good variety of local food to savour alongside a session IPA, gose or pale ale!

At both outlets, they have various beers in bottles or cans. Fresh draft beer is also available for takeaway — bring your growler or any other container as long as its volume is clearly marked!

The selection of craft brews served include Hitachino Nest, Kinshachi, Yona Yona and Shiga Kogen ales as well as a range of imports from further afield. While it isn’t a craft beer, Sapporo Premium Lager is served on draft – and goes down a treat when paired with the Japanese cuisine!

This pop-up stall selling craft beer on tap—the first of its kind in Singapore—is a collaborative effort between craft beer stalwart The Good Beer Company, which is right next door, and bottle shop Brewer’s Craft.

Like 3rd Culture, nothing can quite beat the taste of authentic local hawker cuisine like char kway teow and Hainanese chicken rice with the refreshing flavour of a great quality beer (or two!).

RedDot BrewHouse

One of the pioneers on the local craft beer scene, RedDot BrewHouse has been offering its patrons unforgettable drinking and dining experiences since 2007. Widely praised for its spacious, sheltered garden and exceptional service, it is hardly a surprise that the venue has managed to overcome the effects of a global economic crises and pandemic in the years since its inception.

RedDot’s brews have won numerous international and regional prizes, including categories at the World Beer Awards and Asia Beer Championships. The brewery’s range covers half a dozen regulars – among them the likes of the award-winning Heartlander Stout and the Monster Green Lager, which is infused with spirulina – as well as a pair of seasonal specials, most notably the award-winning Yuzu Craze Pilsner.

Friday nights at RedDot are especially entertaining, with a speed-drinking challenge on the cards and a live band capable of inspiring even the most gawky among us to hit the dancefloor. In other words, it is a great place to unwind after a taxing workweek or to kick off the weekend with a bang!

Lion Brewery Co.

Inspired by a heritage beer brewery that shipped IPAs all over the globe from the heart of London in the 1800s, Lion Brewery Co. was “re-established” by a group of friends based in Singapore and The Big Smoke.

More than a dozen of Lion’s vast range of beers are served at the brewery’s taproom. This selection includes a trio of its flagship beers, a trio of its brewers’ series – of which the outstanding Kaiser Kölsch deserves to be mentioned specifically – and a rotating lineup of seasonal brews. All these, and more, can also be purchased through the brewery’s webshop.

A number of local and western dishes are served too – in generous portions, at that!

Off Day Beer Company

Founded in late 2019 by 5 local beer enthusiasts, Off Day’s range consists of a total of 6 brews, 5 of which are available on their online store.

Brewlander

Born out of founder John Wei’s passion for homebrewing, Brewlander has repeatedly been described as a “trailblazer in the Singapore craft beer scene” and, more creatively, “Singapore’s first gypsy brewer”.

Having “splashed” onto the scene in early 2017, Brewlander took a huge risk and built a fully automated brewery during the 2020 lockdown.

That risk certainly appears to be paying off, and the brewery continues to make strides in its mission to become the Singaporean craft beer brand of the world.

Alive Brewing Co.

Alive Brewing Co. was formed by two school friends during the height of the pandemic in 2020. Its range of 8 brews, all adorned with distinctive designs, is available online.

Sunbird Brewing Co.

Multiple award-winning – including Brew King Singapore for three consecutive years (2021 – 2023) and the Asia Beer Championship for four (2020 – 2023) – brewery in the small-sized category. Sunbird Brewing Co. is committed to creating quality craft beers inspired by local ingredients and the flavours of Asia.
